Laura Conway Crawford, age 90, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, in Jameson Care Center.
She was born Oct. 10, 1934, the daughter of Earl and Hazel (Himes) Conway.
A 1952 graduate of Ne-Ca-Hi, Laura started a career with the New Castle Public Library in 1954. She held many positions with the library before retiring in 2000.
As a librarian, Laura became active in the Pennsylvania Library Association, The National Library Association and the Church and Synagogue Associations and held officer positions in all three organizations at various times.
As an active quilter and needle-pointer, Laura belonged to many embroidery and quilt guilds and held many officer positions. She was the recipient of the Golden Needle Award from the Embroiderers Guild of America for her service to children.
Laura was very active in the community and belonged to many different clubs and associations. She was an honorary lifetime member of the PTA. She was an ordained deacon and elder of the Presbyterian Church.
Laura also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and traveling with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Patricia Crawford and Sandra Troxell; one sister, Patty Hedglin; and four brothers, Frank Conway, James Conway, Roy Conway and Arthur Conway.
She is survived by two sons, Matthew Crawford of Conneaut Ohio, and Ernest Crawford of Warren, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and attend a service there at 4 p.m. with Rev. Jordan Rimmer from the Northminster Presbyterian Church officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
