Joseph W. Buckwalter Jr., 69, of New Wilmington passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at UPMC Shenango.
He was born Nov. 29, 1955, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph W. and Shirley Maughan Buckwalter.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary
Alice Campbell Buckwalter.
A 1973 graduate of West Middlesex High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Slippery Rock University.
During high school and after college, he worked with his father and family in building and operating the Wyngate Manor Mobile Home Park on Route 7 in Brookfield, Ohio. After the park was sold, he drove trucks, specializing in hauling oversized loads.
He was a member of the Neshannock Presbyterian Church and served terms as elder and clerk of session.
In addition to his wife, Mary, survivors include a son, Clint (Chrissy) Buckwalter of New Wilmington; daughters, Cassie Whitfield and Becky Buckwalter, both of Greenville; sisters, Linda (Richard) Rippy of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Debra (Raymond) Broomall of Manassas, Virginia; five grandsons; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, sister, Patricia Houk; and brother, Terry (Flo) Buckwalter.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Smith Funeral Home, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Neshannock Presbyterian Church, 330 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington, PA with Pastor Jim Moose officiating. Interment will follow at Neshannock Cemetery.
