Lexington Wealth Management, an award-winning local business, has recruited Finley Porteous straight from education and welcomed James Castle as he switches into a new profession after a successful career elsewhere. Mr Porteous was drawn to the chance to learn on the job from day one rather than spend years in full-time study before meeting clients. Mr Castle arrived in the profession from the opposite direction, deciding to leave an established career when he felt he had taken it as far as he could. He was attracted by financial planning’s focus on helping people live better lives, not just grow their investments. Both apprentices say they are learning from each other: Mr Porteous benefiting from Mr Castle’s professionalism and life experience, while Mr Castle is inspired by seeing the profession through the eyes of someone just starting out.
