The Local Nature Recovery Strategy has been published for East Sussex and Brighton & Hove, shaped by input from more than 2,000 local people. It sets out eight principles, 24 priorities and more than 100 practical actions. These are designed to help create, enhance and connect habitats in the areas that would bring the greatest benefits for wildlife and people. Actions in the strategy support improved management of woodlands and hedgerows to benefit the hazel dormouse, as well as wetland creation for water voles around Pett, Rye Levels and Lewes Brooks. Improving sand dune habitats at Camber Sands is also a key target.
