Martha Jean "Gee Gee" Marchette, 95, of Newport, Michigan, formerly of New Castle, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. She was born on February 20, 1930, the daughter of the late Harry Dennis and Blanche Hutchinson Dennis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Captain Donald C. Marchette, USMC (Ret.); a son, Earl Everette Marchette; a daughter, Beverly Carol Book; her brother, Donald Dennis; a half-brother; a half-sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Martha is survived by two daughters, Denise Witmer and Dawn Witmer; two granddaughters, Theresa Andrews and Crystal Grey; as well as step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family who will carry her memory forward.
Martha was the heart of her family. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to those she cherished most. As the wife of a Marine, she understood the meaning of sacrifice and strength, and she carried those values throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from her family, and she was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and the many generations who followed. Her love reached across five generations, and her presence made every gathering brighter.
A woman of strong faith, Martha was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church (LCMS) in Monroe, Michigan, where she actively participated in the Ladies Society and LWML. She found purpose in sharing her faith with others and evangelized to all she met. Previously, she was a dedicated member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (ELCA) in New Castle, Pennsylvania, where she served on several boards and councils and wrote for The Shepherd's Pipe. She also volunteered with New Castle Meals on Wheels, giving her time to help those in need. Whenever a job needed to be done, Martha stepped forward with enthusiasm and commitment.
Martha leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, service, and family traditions. Her cherished memories will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
