RIO RANCHO, N.M. – Rio Rancho students return to class Thursday as the district rolls out a new math push and a new parent communication app. Rio Rancho Public Schools also started the year with a new superintendent. The most recent standardized test scores show Rio Rancho students, like many others in New Mexico, are struggling with math skills. District leaders said they are especially focused on high school students this year because math progress there can affect what comes next after graduation. The district said students can use the free platform to stay in touch with their child’s teachers as the school year begins.
