Senior members of the Federation of Independent Retailers (the Fed) in Scotland met with Detective Chief Inspector Jordan Low, the newly appointed head of the Scottish Retail Crime Taskforce, on July 30 to address the growing threats facing retail workers.
Discussions covered a broad range of issues, including a troubling rise in abuse targeting shopworkers, retail theft, and online and racial harassment.
DCI Low confirmed that retail theft remains a serious problem, citing recent data showing an increase in incidents across Scotland.
He encouraged Fed members to participate in the Taskforce's Retail Forums to ensure ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
The Fed has urged its members to actively engage with the Taskforce and continue reporting incidents of abuse and theft to help build an accurate picture of retail crime across Scotland.
