The incident took place around 12.40pm on Tuesday, August 4, when an officer from the Retail Crime Taskforce was inside a shop on Buchanan Street carrying out enquiries into a number of shoplifting incidents. While in the premises, the officer had an object thrown at him and was threatened with a knife. The man was later traced in the city centre on Wednesday, August 5 and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today (Thursday, August 6). "I would like to take this opportunity to commend the professionalism and bravery of the officer involved. "We will continue to have dedicated patrols within Glasgow City Centre to deter and detect criminality and would encourage anyone with information or concerns to approach our officers or call 101.”
