The 13th Congress of Georgia’s former ruling United National Movement party (UNM) has elected a temporary governing council that will assume the powers of the party’s chair and general secretary for six months. The temporary governing council consists of eight members: Petre Tsiskarishvili, Irakli Pavlenishvili, Ana Tsitlidze, Lasha Parulava, Giorgi Chaladze, Levan Bezhashvili, Giorgi Botkoveli, and Irakli Nadiradze. ‘Mikheil Saakashvili and we can return to Eredvi, return to Tskhinvali, return to Sukhumi. Tina Bokuchava, the UNM’s outgoing chair, was nominated as the ninth member of the council but declined to join the temporary governing body. The temporary governing council will operate for six months while the party undergoes reforms.
