Georgia was hit by another nationwide blackout on Wednesday, marking the third time within a two-week period that lights across the country have gone out.
The blackout hit at around 20:00 on Wednesday evening, with outages quickly reported across the country.
Prior to that, a member of Georgia’s State Electric System Committee, Giorgi Phangani, issued a post on Facebook claiming the blackout was ‘scheduled’ due to testing being carried out at the Enguri HPP.
Comments under the post criticised Phangani and the authorities for not notifying the public of the ‘scheduled’ blackouts.
After the first blackouts of late July, Georgia’s State Security Service (SSG) announced it was investigating the matter as an act of sabotage.
