The Ministry of Defence has unveiled a cenotaph in honour of the late former Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, to preserve his memory and inspire future generations of public servants.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Deputy Defence Minister, Dr Ernest Brogya Genfi, said the memorial was not intended to glorify Dr Omane Boamah, but to serve as a lasting reminder of his dedication to service, humility, and patriotism.
He described the late Defence Minister as a person who believed in duty rather than personal recognition, adding that those who knew him were certain he would have declined any form of honour that sought to elevate him.
The Deputy Minister said the cenotaph would inspire officers, soldiers, civilian staff, and public servants who encounter it to emulate Dr Omane Boamah’s commitment and sense of responsibility.
