Merritt RCMP say a report of a firearm that led to an armed police response at a Blair Street apartment building last week turned out to be false. In a statement to the Merritt Herald, Merritt RCMP detachment commander Staff Sgt. Josh Roda said officers were called to the residence shortly after 6 p.m. following a report of a disturbance involving a firearm. “Officers immediately responded and due to the circumstances, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and the RCMP Police Dog Services were called in to assist.” Roda said officers cleared the residence and determined the report of a firearm was false.
