Wendy said the revised proposal remained contrary to planning policy because it would create "a new dwelling in the open countryside" in an unsustainable location with limited public transport. She also pointed to the planning inspector's previous findings that the harm extended beyond the building itself. Ward member Cllr Iain Chubb also backed the application, telling the committee the remains were known locally as the "cheese barn". Cllr Steve Hunt described Shute Road as "the most beautiful road" in East Devon before concluding that the proposal remained "the wrong development in that area".
