The legendary Blue Note Jazz Club will open its first U.K. location on Sept. 23, planting its flag in London’s West End with a lineup that bridges jazz tradition and its increasingly porous borders. Five-time Grammy winner Robert Glasper will headline the club’s grand opening on Sept. 23-24 before returning for a seven-show November residency. Glasper has also been named a creative ambassador for Blue Note London, helping shape the artistic direction of the new venue. “London has been a big supporter in my career from the very beginning, and I’ve always had so much respect for the musical culture of the U.K.,” Glasper said. Located on St. Martin’s Lane in Covent Garden, Blue Note London will feature a 250-capacity main room hosting two nightly performances.
