According to a press release issued by the EOW, a complaint was received against Rakesh Gorkhe, a pharmacist at the Government Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH), claiming that he had amassed assets disproportionate to his income through alleged corruption. After investigating the complaint, the EOW raided Gorkhe’s premises. According to the release, Gorkhe, who joined the government service in 2007, has earned a total legitimate income of Rs 1.11 crore from his salary, while his movable and immovable assets are valued at Rs 2.13 crore. The official said that property documents, bank passbooks, registry copies, and Rs 1.51 lakh in cash were recovered from Gorkhe’s home during the raids. He said that a case has been registered against the pharmacist under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, and an investigation is underway.
