On Aug. 6, 1892, Western film star and Saugus rodeo owner Hoot Gibson was born in Tekamah, Nebraska. As a teenager in California, Gibson worked on a ranch and began competing in local rodeos, riding bucking broncs. On July 3, 1942, Gibson married for the fourth and final time, to 22-year-old yodeler Dorothy Dunstan. Despite a long and lucrative career, Gibson squandered much of his fortune through lavish living and poor investments. Over the course of his career, Gibson appeared in more than 200 films between 1910 and 1960.
