It has now been a few days over a year since plans were first submitted to build 170 homes on land at Wenhill in Calne by applicant CG Fry and Sons. The house was once the childhood home of Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp before being sold by her father, Charles, the 6th Baron Hindlip, decades ago. If planning permission is granted, the development would include a plot for a medical centre on the land. At each stage of the planning process, CG Fry and Sons has insisted that its proposed estate would be “an ideal urban expansion to the west of Calne”. A letter sent on behalf of applicant CG Fry and Sons said: “The changes to the scheme have been formulated to address consultee and third-party comments and have been coordinated across various disciplines.”
