BOISE, Idaho – Albertsons Companies has expanded its artificial intelligence strategy with the launch of a new Safeway plugin for ChatGPT, allowing customers to shop for groceries through natural language conversations. According to Albertsons, the service is designed to simplify online grocery shopping by allowing customers to interact with AI in a conversational way rather than navigating traditional online menus. “As consumer interest in AI-assisted grocery shopping continues to grow, the Safeway plugin allows customers to shop naturally through conversation while giving them complete control over their purchasing decisions.” The system then recommends relevant Safeway products and helps customers add selected items to their online shopping cart. Its portfolio includes well-known supermarket banners such as Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME, Tom Thumb, Randalls, United Supermarkets, Pavilions, Star Market, Haggen, Carrs, Kings Food Markets and Balducci’s Food Lovers Market.
