The Obuasi Senior High Technical School (O’SECTEC) has been closed down following students’ attack on the headmaster and caused destruction to several property over ritual claims. The headmaster, Mr. Abdulai Zakaria who sustained multiple injuries has been transferred from AGA Hospital to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for further treatment. The Ashanti Regional Director of Education, Dr. William Kwame Amankra in consultation with the Obuasi Municipal Security Committee and other relevant bodies subsequently closed down the school for students to go home. Addressing the students earlier, the Regional Director said the students would be made to pay for everything they destroyed during the disturbances.
