The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ presided over by Her Honour Naomi Adusei Amaniampog Kucour has jailed two male Ghanaians for trafficking 11 Nigerians and causing harm to the victims. The Tema Regional Police Command secured the conviction and sentencing of Kingsley Ndifon, 29, and Emmanuel Akong, 25, on charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely human trafficking, contrary to Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); human trafficking, contrary to Section 2(2) of the Human Trafficking Act, 2005 (Act694); and causing harm, contrary to Section 69 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29). “Investigations further revealed that the victims were fed once a day and subjected to severe physical abuse whenever they failed to comply with instructions. The victims were also found to be malnourished and in poor health,” she explained in the press statement. ASP Dede Dzakpasu said the Tema Regional Police Command remains committed to combating human trafficking, cyber-related crimes and all forms of abuse, and urged the public to promptly report suspected cases of human trafficking and other criminal activities to the police.
