The 25-year-old officer, who is stationed at Mitchells Plain SAPS, was reportedly arrested by the Western Cape Anti-Corruption Unit on Wednesday, 5 August.
Reportedly, the incident was subsequently reported to the Western Cape Anti-Corruption Unit, which launched an investigation.
Following that process, a warrant of arrest was authorised by the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court.
The allegations are particularly concerning in Mitchells Plain, where residents rely heavily on local police to respond to violent crime, drugs and gang-related activity.
According to one of the reports, four Mitchells Plain officers were recently dismissed following disciplinary proceedings linked to a separate alleged theft during a police operation.
