Murrysville will change its trash and recycling hauler for the first time in decades, shifting from Republic Services to County Hauling.
Unlimited curbside collection means customers bring their trash to the curb in bags or in their own cans.
Councilwoman Jamie Lingg asked why the large price discrepancy existed among Republic, Waste Management and the other bidders.
“We had a lot of discussions with them, and they are trying to transition folks into the automated cart service,” Nestico said.
“I think the preference for those companies was to step away from unlimited collection, which requires more workers.”
