Winchester City Council granted Corkk, which is moving into the former Design House in Great Minster Street, a licence to sell alcohol on and off the premises on Wednesday, August 5. Corkk owner Jonathan Piggins told the committee police and other authorities had raised no objections, and said he would work with Great Minster Street residents to limit disruption. Mr Piggins said Corkk was "not a drinking establishment" but aimed to promote and sell English wine to customers aged 40 to 45 on average. Mrs Bailey said Great Minster Street residents already faced crime, noise and traffic linked to nearby pubs, including The Old Vine.
