While welcome, to help promote drinks and food originating in Hampshire, Fuller's have no brewery in the county. What they do have is the shameful history of buying the much-loved Gales Ales business in Horndean in 2005 and then closing it down within six months, sacking all the brewing staff and selling off the classic old brewery for modern housing. Fuller's then had to be told to refrain from keeping "Horndean Hampshire" on the bottom of their "Gales" beer clips and bottle labels as their versions, from Hounslow London, had no connection to the Horndean chalk aquifer that Gales used to source the key ingredient from their original beers.
