Firefighters called to blaze at County Durham fish and chip shop

Crews from Consett and Durham fire stations were called to Klers Fish Bar on Front Street in Leadgate, at around 10.10am, following reports of smoke.

A County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.10am today (August 6) to a fire in the ventilation system at Klers Fish Bar on Front Street in Leadgate, Durham.

“Firefighters used one hose reel to put out the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.
