“Eagle County is currently evaluating the Wild Horse Reservoir project (in Park County) and will review the NEPA documents and engage in the process as it moves forward,” an Eagle County spokesperson wrote in an email to the Vail Daily this week. “Aurora is likely slow playing this angle until they get Wild Horse permitted to avoid the impacts being evaluated as connected actions in permitting.” They’ve also told Park County that they’re not diverting any new water from Park County. Because of that, the water expert encouraged Eagle County and other concerned Western Slope water stakeholders to pay much more attention to Aurora’s proposed Wild Horse project. That permitting process, which was legally challenged, is how Eagle County stopped the proposed Homestake II diversion project .
