The European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba-3 mission has captured a rare sequence of three solar prominence eruptions inside the sun’s inner corona. Flying in precise formation, the two Proba-3 spacecraft are designed to block the bright solar disk and reveal the faint structures around it. The Proba-3 spacecraft duo flies in formation around Earth to create an artificial solar eclipse. The sun’s corona and a solar prominence revealed during an observation of the solar atmosphere. By capturing prominence eruptions in motion, Proba-3 is helping researchers follow events that were once much harder to observe.
