After a roughly four-hour meeting, a Raleigh design committee decided not to vote to approve a new high-rise building in North Hills on Thursday night. The building is part of Kane Realty's major 28-acre expansion project in the North Hills area. City documents show North Hills Expansion Tower II would be a one-acre site on the corner of Lassiter Mill Road and The Circle at North Hills Street near Interstate 440. Kane, the developer most closely associated with North Hills, is requesting that the city waive specific design and architectural rules for the new tower. WRAL reached out to North Hills area community groups who did not want to comment at this time until the design commission votes Thursday.
