A 14-year-old boy who allegedly stole a vehicle in Alameda County was arrested earlier this week after deputies used license plate reader technology and a GPS tracking device to locate the car, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies responded shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a vehicle that had been stolen about an hour earlier. The Sheriff's Office alerted the San Leandro Police Department, and an officer later spotted the suspect running into a commercial property. Deputies and San Leandro officers surrounded the area, and a sheriff's K-9 tracked the suspect to the rear of the building, where he was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as a 14-year-old boy who was already on juvenile probation for vehicle theft.
