The Walrus
Before being beset by the wear and tear of incumbency, the CAQ built its majority by combining nationalist, centre-right, suburban, and older francophone voters.
This latest Pallas poll, however, suggests that momentum has stalled, with its core groups seemingly now drifting to different parties.
In other words, the challenge is no longer who leads the party but what the party represents to Quebec voters.
Four years ago, the party was polling at more than 50 percent among francophone voters.
Any blueprint for a Liberal victory would certainly require substantially stronger support among francophone voters, and this survey offers little evidence of such a breakthrough at this point.
