Cruz messaged the seller, Carly Kaplan, and asked if she would consider donating them to a local food bank. After seeing Cruz’s post warning about the scam, Lovelle contacted the seller again. “I was planning to donate it anyway, [but] my donation just went in a different direction,” Cruz said.
