Riga is preparing for a week of contemporary circus and street arts as the Re Rīga!
Organisers say the 14th edition will combine circus performances, masterclasses and outdoor events, with parts of the programme designed specifically for families and casual visitors exploring Riga in summer.
Rīgas cirks provides the principal indoor setting, while Vērmanes Garden and Victory Park allow visitors to encounter contemporary circus in open urban surroundings.
Its physical vocabulary is characteristic of contemporary circus, where acrobatic skill is integrated with choreography, theatrical pacing and visual design.
Other announced elements include performances by Riga Circus School students, a contemporary dance work by Latvian company SIXTH and activities aimed at children and families.
