Some have begun asking whether the impeachment is distracting the Senate and the nation from the far more urgent task of reviving the Philippine economy. The economy cannot be impeached. It examined three pillars: political freedom, economic freedom, and the rule of law. Economic freedom is important. But history will judge the Philippines by something much larger: whether, while pursuing constitutional accountability, it continued building an economy worthy of future generations.
