The code SamMobile found in the Galaxy Wearable app refers to a “galaxy_RTOS_watch,” which is reportedly called the “Galaxy Aero.” Samsung already uses a customized version of FreeRTOS on its $60 Galaxy Fit 3 fitness tracker. The fact that it might use the OS on a new watch suggests it will be similarly affordable. All of those factors make a cheap wearable more appealing than a $380 Galaxy Watch 9 might be in the back half of 2026. If Samsung plays its cards right, its new wearable could pull off the same trick.
