The Central Bank of Barbados is refuting claims circulating about BimPay. It explains that BimPay is a domestic payment system that facilitates instant electronic payments between participating financial institutions within Barbados. The Central Bank also says the ability to send or receive funds internationally is not dependent on whether an individual has a BimPay wallet. It further states that there has been no policy or directive to delay domestic transfers in order to encourage adoption of the system. The Central Bank categorically rejects suggestions that it is forcing, manipulating or coercing members of the public into using BimPay.
