Ryan Specialty launches MGU targeting AI, crypto data centersA Ryan Specialty unit said Thursday it has launched a managing general underwriter focused on insuring computing hardware for artificial intelligence, high-performance computing and cryptocurrency mining operations. Chicago-based Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers said that Tera Underwriters will offer a Lloyd’s of London-backed insurance facility with more than $1 billion in available capacity, including a $625 million lead binder. The program will be distributed through RT Specialty, Ryan Specialty’s wholesale brokerage. Insurers, brokers and other intermediaries have introduced an increasing number of products and facilities for data centers over the past year, reflecting surging investment in AI infrastructure. “The digital infrastructure sector represents one of the most significant and underserved insurance markets globally,” Miles Wuller, CEO of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, said in a statement.
