One of Aberdeen’s traditional pubs, the Malt Mill was well known for its live music nights over the decades, until it closed down 10 years ago. The whole of the Granite City was decked out “beyond expectation” and Holburn Street was no exception. He retired from the licensed trade in 1985 and sold the pub to a consortium of Aberdeen businessmen. Brothers Jimmy and Peter Marr bought the Malt Mill bar and lounge as their latest addition to their pub portfolio. Eighteen of Marr’s 30 venues were sold, including the Malt Mill, with Scottish and Newcastle Pub Enterprises appointed by Globe to run the outlets.
