The works are part of £27 million scheme to improve council-owned buildings in need of some TLC to preserve their futures. Council co-leader Ian Yull said this showed the authority was “committed” to the buildings under its care. Committee convener Alex McLellan said these improvements will ensure buildings “regularly used by the public” will be “fit for use for many years to come.” The full list of upgrades are:Mechanical and electrical equipment at Aberdeen Art Gallery will be replaced, and its management system is to be improved. In addition to the improvements at historic buildings, the £27m sum will go towards work at schools, sports centres and community buildings in the city.
