OPP Crack Down on Dangerous Drivers Over the Civic Holiday WeekendProvincial Police continue to crack down on dangerous drivers. Officers in the OPP West Region laid 1815 charges during the Civic Holiday long weekend safety campaign. In all, 856 speeding charges were laid across the region, as well as 178 seatbelt infractions and 45 charges for impaired driving. Officers in Elgin County, who also cover provincially-patrolled roads in Chatham-Kent, laid 51 speeding charges, 16 seatbelt charges, and seven charges for impaired driving. Meantime, in Lambton County, OPP officers charged 32 drivers with speeding, nine for seatbelt offences, and two impaired driving charges
