For 20 blocks along Northern Boulevard, a sea of yellow, blue and red took over the streets of Jackson Heights as Ecuadorians celebrated their independence day with the 43rd annual parade.
The parade, which began at 12 p.m. and ended by 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2, featured a wide variety of vibrant floats, all celebrating Ecuadorian culture.
Folkloric dancers also participated in the parade, dancing along to traditional Ecuadorian music.
Even outside of the parade route, there was a variety of vendors selling Ecuadorian gear, delicacies and more.
The Ecuadorian Independence Day is celebrated annually on Aug. 10, marking the Primer Grito de Independencia (First Cry of Independence) that occurred in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, in 1809.
