U.S. Rep. John James, R-Mich., won the Republican gubernatorial nomination against businessman Perry Johnson Tuesday.
James received 50.1% of the vote to Johnson’s 35.2% with 99% of votes counted.
James has represented Michigan’s 10th Congressional District since 2023, building his campaign on a “Freedom agenda,” aimed at restoring freedom and opportunity for every Michigan family.
James has received several notable endorsements from key republicans, including President Donald Trump, who James supported at a Trump rally in Milford last week.
During his acceptance speech Tuesday night, James thanked supporters and pledged to attempt to earn the trust of those who didn’t vote for him.
