On Palestinian statehood, it is utterly silent. The committee running Gaza answers upward to an external board, never downward to the people of Gaza. Where does Israel stand in this architecture? The deal does not postpone Palestinian statehood; it dismantles the very mechanism by which statehood could ever be demanded. Call the arrangement by many names, but do not call it a step toward a Palestinian state.
