It’s part of training require by the State Fire Marshal’s Division of Personnel Standards. The session also practiced “relay pumping” — connecting two or more fire engines in series to pump water at adequate pressure and volumes over large distances. On Tuesday Engine 24 was connected to a hydrant at Greenwood Street and the water it supplied was relayed through Squad 21 to the tower truck.
