Titanic composer’s lost score takes flight Orchestrasnorman lebrecht August 06, 2026The Royal Scottish National Orchestra are to premiere Skyward Spirit, a James Horner piece written for the US Air Force band and long thought missing in inaction. James, who was 61, grew up in London and studied with György Ligeti before making a career in Hollywood. The RSNO say: ‘We are so proud of the position we now have supporting Hollywood recording its scores in Scotland’s Studio. More recently, we’ve recorded the scores for some major productions, and that Hollywood choosing to come here to Scotland to record is testament to our growing reputation. Horner was true Hollywood royalty, and so it is particularly special that the RSNO can play this small part in his legacy.
