Councillor back Lairg BESS plans

Highland councillors have unanimously agreed not to object to plans for a 249.9MW battery energy storage system (BESS) near Lairg.
An example of the containers used in a Battery Energy Storage System.
It would comprise battery storage containers, transformers, switchgear, landscaping and associated infrastructure.
Councillor Michael Baird, north, west and central Sutherland, sought assurances that work would not begin until both a community liaison group and a traffic management plan were in place.
Councillor Baird indicted that he supported the proposal and fellow councillors agreed, going on to decide not to raise an objection.
