A single-judge bench of the Calcutta High Court on Wednesday denied Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee permission to travel abroad for ophthalmic treatment.
Based on this, Justice Bhattacharya declined permission for the MP to travel abroad for eye treatment and dismissed the petition.
Accordingly, Justice Bhattacharya scheduled the hearing for Wednesday morning and delivered the order after hearing both sides.
During the proceedings, Banerjee's counsel, Rebecca Mammen John, argued that he required treatment abroad for his eye condition.
He further argued that allowing him to travel abroad could adversely affect the ongoing investigations.
