Aditya Timmaraju, a Senior Staff Research Engineer at Google DeepMind, posted a screenshot on X of a recruiter email he received barely an hour after news broke that Jeff Dean was leaving Google after 27 years. The subject line read, “Jeff Dean just left? Are you open to having another Jeff (Bezos) in your life?” Timmaraju’s post carried a simple caption: “The news of Jeff Dean leaving has been public for hardly an hour, and recruiters are already writing customized emails building on it. “Just heard the news about Jeff Dean leaving Deepmind, major bummer,” the recruiter wrote, “But there potentially could be a silver lining if you’re open to opportunities.”
