A Superior shipyard is partnering with the owner of the world’s largest shipbuilding company as the Trump administration looks to revitalize U.S. shipbuilding in partnership with South Korea. Fraser and HD Hyundai will work together to modernize Fraser Shipyards by incorporating advanced technology, including the use of automation equipment and artificial intelligence. While he acknowledged workforce concerns tied to AI, he said the company still needs people to build ships. Now, he said the two companies are mapping out facilities to build boats using new technologies. “We need to build ships, both military ships and commercial ships of all kinds here in America,” Lutnick said.
