Island MSPs Hannah Mary Goodlad, Kristopher Leask and Liam McArthur have today (Thursday) welcomed the news that Loganair’s Sumburgh-Kirkwall-Inverness flights will return to full service from October.
The Scottish government has now confirmed funding to safeguard the routes, providing reassurance to island communities that depend on them.
We now need a long-term, sustainable plan that gives island communities the reliable lifeline services and air links that they deserve."
Ms Goodlad also welcomed the funding commitment - but said it was time for a more “holistic” approach to lifeline air services.
Islanders need the transport secretary to take responsibility for building greater resilience across the network going forward.
