An inaugural Fair Isle 10k run has been hailed for its ‘brilliant and warm atmosphere’ as it welcomed local and international participants to the remote island. A total of 14 runners took part in the event, which began and ended at the North Lighthouse. Tom Wright, assistant warden at Fair Isle Bird Observatory, claimed victory with a time of 35:50. Runners were cheered on by the local community and a celebration was held at the Fair Isle Bird Observatory, where a prizegiving ceremony took place and all finishers were presented with a medal. We are now hoping to make this an annual event here in the isle.”
